Their unwavering dedication and collective efforts have been instrumental in advancing the department's academic standing and fulfilling its educational mission. The department of Biology serves as a Cornerstone of the Faculty, encompassing several specialized disciplines, including Zoology, Botany, Microbiology, And Ecology. The department maintains a strong interdisciplinary synergy with other scientific fields, such as Chimestry and Biostatistics. Since its inception in the academic year 2003- 2004, the department has established itself as a Pivotal academic unit, primarily focusing on Zoology while expanding its scope to cover broader biological Sciences. The significance of our department lies in its comprehensive curriculum and research initiatives that explore biology diversity, evolutionary variation, and behavioral studies of living organisms. We are committed to the continuous motorazation of our pedagogical approaches and the integration of contemporary scientific advancements to ensure our graduates remain competitive in an ever- evolving global landscape. Our primary objective is to promote the academic and intellectual proficiency of our students, equipping them with the necessary skills to contribute effectively to national development. Description
The duration of study in the department of Biology spans four academic years, distributed over eight semesters. Students are required to complete 47 courses, totaling 140vcredit units, and 163 accredited contact hours across various biological discipline, in addition to the university's general requirement hours. The curriculum utilizes a blended pedagogical approach, integrating theoretical classroom instruction with intensive practical laboratory training. Upon the successful completion of all prescribed coursework and academic components, the department of Biology confers the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degree in biology to its graduates.
